I purchased an Excalibur 9 tray dehydrator some time last year and have to say it comes in handy.

We have dried chillies, herbs and made our own jerky. The last thing to be shoved in the dehydrator was 1.6kg of chocolate habanero chillies.

I never grew these ones myself, they came from the person i purchased my choc hab seedlings from. As he had a glut of excess pods he said I could pick my fill.

Anyhow the 1.6kg of pods becomes 160gms of chilli powder. For me the dehydrator is a good way to ensure what I grow is not wasted if I can't consume it or freeze it.

I've got one somewhere. Makes nice jerky.

Nice work LV. That's a serious amount of heat there :thumb:

I have a large Harvest Maid that I bought around 20+ years when I started work. Bet I was the only guy in the mining camp with one too

I bought it to make jerky as we used to do a lot of trips out into the bush/desert and it was always a popular snack to have along.

It's still going today so I'm definitely impressed with the quality of the machine !

I did some jerky once - but I think I ate too much in one sitting - not pretty!

When I do a batch of jerky I make one that is non chilli, the rest then ranges from mild to deadly. I've made it to hot for me to consume a couple of times.

Thanks for the reminder Paul - I need to get on and get one of those vacuum sealers. You seem happy with yours and I think F&F has the same as you and his is going well too.
