Any one growing these?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamarillo

I bought some fruit form the stupermarket 2 years back, they had an interesting taste and I thought if they are just a tree version ofthe tomato then they should grows true to type from seed, and from the photo you can see that they do, just waiting for the fruit to ripen a little more before the taste test.

Of the 6 seeds I planted all of them germinated and grew into trees, I ended up ripping 2 out because I just didn't need that many. I thought they would struggle in Perth with out hot dry summers but despite this they have thrived, even the ones in heavy clay soil, the ones in the gravelly loam of my orchard area have shot up and are quite an attractive tree too.

Not sure how they would go in sandy soil but if you like the fruit you may aswell try growing some form seed.

The tomato tree at Disney's Apcot Greenhouse is amazing. But it is actually a tomato and not a tamarillo. Its written that it produced 32,000 tomato's in a single yield.
