We have recently lost a duck and our Australorp rooster to a Wedge-tailed Eagle! While we really didn't like coming home to a mass of feathers two days in a row, it is certainly magnificent to see these amazing birds relatively close! It was hard getting decent photos because it was very, very alert and moved away as soon as we were in view, but managed to get a couple!

So....like the heron that come for the fish....they are both welcome and unwelcome!

Put out a frozen bird and a camera and you might get some video. I didn't say kittens so as not to offend :hello:

That would be good, but a bit hard to leave the camera out and rolling all day! We haven't seen it now since Saturday ......Perhaps it is full????

Love the sound of kookaburras.....but is it eyeing off the fish in the ponds, aquaponics and pool :dunno:

It certainly keeps hanging around them, but there are a pair of willy wagtails nesting nearby and they continually bombard it until it gives up and flys away ....phew!

Good old willy wagtails are great for getting rid of other animals you dont want around the place! My dog is contstantly attacked by one in the backyard. Funny to watch

I get attacked by one (wagtail) on my to and from the bus stop. It's funny to watch as I usually get attacked by a magpie in that spot.

A couple of years ago while working on a farm I had to wait an hour or so for the front end loader so I decided to have a sleep under the only trees I could find in the paddock. The flies were a bit painful but I was thankful when the will wagtail landed on me and started to catch them.

I love Wedgies too. Got to stroke one on the chest the other weekend at the Gidgegannup show as there was a lady there who rescues and rehabilitates birds of prey.
