It is not due to heat as it is cool this morning and the beard is not outside the entrance.

Which leaves splitting of the colony and these are the splitters sounding their queen, which is odd as the hive has plenty of room and even unfilled virgin comb.

The volume of the splitters is maybe a quarter of the colony.
